Ever danced with the chaos in a dressing room, awash in the glow of incandescent bulbs and backlit by make-up mirrors? Or raced against time, your focus split between a running back on stage and the sizzling whispers of hair dryers and curling irons?

Welcome to the performer's backstage world, in this historical theater on a Santa Barbara Unified School District campus. This is where the heat of creativity meets the heat of practicality. But worry not, Belfer Marquee has the perfect lighting solution: permanently fixed lamp guards around each exposed lamp - offering protection and peace of mind to the performers and the venue.

C.L. Hoover Opera House

C.L. Hoover Opera House, Junction City, KS

The C.L. Hoover Opera House was originally constructed in 1882 through the initiative of local citizens who sought to bring cultural events only rarely encountered in the Midwest. The original theater included an orchestra level, a balcony, a gallery, and three levels of box seating for a total capacity of over 1000 seats. Lighting came from gas chandeliers. In 1890, the building underwent interior remodeling with electric lights installed. In 1919 the Opera House was remodeled again and productions included live theater as well as new motion picture “talkies”. In 1942, a full renovation transformed the Opera House into a modern movie theater, showing motion pictures until it closed in 1982.

The renovation and re-launch of the C.L. Hoover Opera House in 2008 filled the need in Junction City for a cultural venue in which to meet, hold events, and perform concerts and theatre. After a $7 Million restoration it is open again as a state-of-the-art performing arts and civic center. Today’s C.L. Hoover Opera House is a multi-use facility for performing & visual arts presentation, business & professional events, educational & cultural opportunities and civic activities.

Reflex Integrated Wall Wash LED Fixture in library of Sangren Hall at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo MI

Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo was hoping to renovate its out-of-date Sangren Hall, but instead built a larger, more efficient and greener version. Designed by SHW Group to achieve LEED Gold certification, Sangren Hall is a powerhouse for education with a green roof, lots of energy efficiency strategies and a photovoltaic system to provide for some of its demand. The 230,000-square-foot, four-story facility features 50 classrooms with 2,435 instructional seats, two 200-seat auditoriums, an education library, a grants and research center, offices and clinical space. Located at the heart of campus, almost every student passes through its doors at some point during the year and welcoming cafe and event space makes it a great place to meet up for study or socializing.

Sangren Hall literally sits in the center of the campus and also serves as the heart which all students and faculty can enjoy.
