Project: One Vanderbilt Place
Grand Central Station NYC
Grand Central Station Historical Fixtures
As part of a public-private partnership, Grand Central Station opened long-shuttered Vanderbilt Place passageway with the addition of two street-level subway entrances.
We were pleased to be asked to recreate the historic lighting fixtures in order to complete this expansion to One Vanderbilt Place. Many parts of the terminal are adorned with sculpted oak leaves and acorns, nuts of the oak tree. In order to reproduce and upgrade these fixtures to LED, we created cast metal replicas of each section of the fixtures, matching the original finishes, and imperfections, continuing the new transit hall’s flow and history.
The distinctive architecture and interior design of Grand Central Terminal's station house have earned it several landmark designations, including as a National Historic Landmark.
